We sell ten things

Most outdoor shops carry four hundred products and can tell you nothing useful about any of them. We would rather carry ten and know them properly.

The shop opened on Hurontario Street in 2011 with a rack of wool, a pile of boots and an unshakeable conviction that people would pay more for something that lasts. That took about four years to prove.

Everything on this site is something we use. Not "something we tested" — something that is in our own packs, on our own feet, and that we have taken far enough to know how it fails. The waxed jacket has been to Killarney a dozen times. The paddle is made by a man forty minutes away whom two of us have known for years.

About two thirds of what we sell is made in Canada, and we say plainly where the rest comes from rather than burying it. The camp stove is imported. It is a good stove and nobody makes an equivalent here.

The repair promise

Anything we made, we will repair for as long as we exist, free. Blown seams, failed zips, torn canvas, a strap that pulled through. Bring it in or post it to the Collingwood shop.

This is not charity. A jacket that gets repaired three times is worn for twenty years, and the person wearing it tells people where they got it. It is the cheapest marketing we have.

For things we did not make, we will still try, and we will tell you honestly if it is beyond us.
