Built in 2021 as the architect's own residence, this is a house designed around one view and one climate. The main gable is glazed floor to ridge and faces southwest down the valley; everything else on the plan gets out of its way.

The main floor is a single volume — kitchen, dining and living running the length of the glass, with a black steel fireplace as the only division. Radiant concrete underfoot throughout, so it holds heat through a Simcoe County February without the furnace running.

Four bedrooms up, all with valley outlooks, and a primary suite that occupies the west end with its own terrace. The lower level walks out to a sheltered courtyard and is currently a studio, though it takes a fifth bedroom without alteration.

1.8 acres, mostly left as it was — mature hardwood along the north boundary and a cleared meadow to the south. Ten minutes to Horseshoe Resort, twenty-five to Barrie.
