The studio, empty and lit by morning light

COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO

An hour that belongs to you.

A small studio at the bottom of Simcoe Street with four teachers, twenty-eight classes a week and no mirrors. Come as you are — genuinely, we mean it.

THE STUDIO

No mirrors, no leaderboard, no one watching

We took the mirrors out in our second year. People spent the whole class checking whether they looked right instead of noticing how anything felt, and it turns out that's the opposite of the point.

Twenty-two mats, underfloor heating, and props for everyone — blocks, bolsters, straps and blankets are in the room and free. Bring a mat if you have one; if you don't, we'll lend you a good one rather than a sticky rental.

Nobody will adjust you without asking. Nobody will call you out for lying down for the whole class. There is no advanced row.

What the class names actually mean

Sunrise Flow

A moving practice to wake up with, built to be done before work. Sixty minutes, out the door by 7:35.

Anyone. It's brisk but not punishing.

Slow Hatha

Held postures, long transitions, plenty of time to arrange yourself properly before the next one.

New students, stiff bodies, anyone recovering.

Vinyasa Strong

Continuous, breath-linked, and genuinely hard. Inversions offered, never expected.

You've practised for a year or more.

Yin & Breath

Floor-based, three to five minutes a posture, working into connective tissue rather than muscle.

Everyone, especially if you sit all day.

Restorative & Sound

Fully supported shapes with bolsters and blankets, closing with singing bowls.

Anyone tired. No experience needed at all.

Beginners' Foundations

A proper introduction — the shapes, the language, and why we do any of it. Runs as a six-week course too.

Complete beginners.

Four teachers, and you'll know all of them

Beth Ihuoma

Founder & senior teacher · teaching since 2011

Opened Wintergreen in 2016 after fifteen years teaching in Toronto. Beth teaches the slow end of the timetable and runs the beginners' course — if you've never set foot in a studio, start with her.

Hatha, restorative, prenatal

Julien Cormier

Vinyasa & strength · teaching since 2015

Ex-ski patrol on Blue Mountain, which shows in how he cues. Julien's classes are the hardest on the schedule and he will still stop and fix your shoulder alignment in the middle of one.

Vinyasa, power, mobility

Nadia Brandt

Flow & mobility · teaching since 2018

Works with a lot of runners and cyclists who arrived tight and sceptical. Sunrise Flow is hers three mornings a week and it fills the fastest of anything we run.

Vinyasa, mobility, athletes

Priya Raghunathan

Yin & breathwork · teaching since 2019

Trained in Mysore and teaches the quietest classes in the building. Candlelit Yin on a Wednesday in February is, by consensus, the best thing we offer.

Slow Hatha
I came in after a hip replacement convinced I'd be the worst person in the room. Beth put me by the wall, gave me two blocks and never once made a thing of it.
Erin Vasquez
Mobility & Strength
I run. I hated yoga. Nadia's mobility class is the only reason my knees survived last year's Blue Mountain half.
Marc Delisle
Candlelit Yin
Candlelit Yin on a Wednesday in the middle of winter is the single best hour of my week and I will fight anyone who books my spot.
