BARRIE

Old Barrie & Codrington

Century brick, mature trees, and the shortest walk to the water of anywhere in the city.

The oldest residential fabric in Barrie, running north from the waterfront up through Codrington. Red brick, deep lots, and street trees that were planted when the houses went up.

It is the one part of the city where you can genuinely live without a car for most things — groceries, the waterfront path, the farmers' market and downtown are all inside a fifteen-minute walk.

The trade-off is the housing stock. Most of these houses are between eighty and a hundred and thirty years old, and buying one means budgeting for knob-and-tube, old galvanised supply lines, and roofs with more than one layer on them.
